Mediation and Mindfulness

In my role as a mediator, I find mindfulness a very helpful tool as it enables me to be aware of what is happening with clients moment to moment in the mediation process without judgement and helps me to understand my own emotional reactions.

I have facilitated cultural diversity and anti-racism training but have also extended the training to other diversity issues such as: sexism,  homophobia and disability issues due to demand.  This training can be offered in modules ranging from half-day to two-day sessions and training courses will re-commence in February 2011.

Divorce and child support – Mediation (Dublin Ireland)

Mediation is a tool to resolve conflict following family separation, family breakdown or divorce and assists parents in reaching agreement including child support and child access.

I have assisted many couples to reach agreements that were mutually acceptable.

In my own research I have found that there is a lack of awareness of the benefits of mediation particularly by co-habiting parents and this was also found in Glover, 2008 research.

(Glover J. 2008, Mediation in a family court Setting: Does it work? Child Care in Practice, 14:3, 293-310)
